Hum. Well... to make up for my past mistake: watched the FMA movie as well... Didn't like it. Could have fit it in a 30 min long episode. Same with Advent Children. But FMA movie irked me because of the nazi thingie too. Plain stupid, ignorant and mean, as far as I see it. I still cringe when they dress one anime figure or other in nazi uniform. Bloody tasteless of them.
I watched School Rumble (dunno what came over me, really)... It's more or less like FMP - nothing happens! It always makes me mad. What else... haven't progressed with Kyo Kara Maou, bored of Naruto, disillusioned of Bleach...
Watched Ouran Highschool Host Club. It was really cute. Watched Read or Die: it was bloody stupid. I mean it. Japanese have no naming sense whatsoever. And apparently no common sense either. Finished watching Trinity Blood. Wasn't worth the effort. Oh, and started Blood+. (The TV episodes, not the movie. I gave up on the movie after 5 minutes of it. It was worse than trash. Imho, of course.) So far, it's watch-able.

I mean, that Japanese wouldn't recognize the buildungsroman if it danced trough their rooms with a T-shirt printed with "I'm a buildungsroman" in big red letters and singing "I'm a buildungsroman!". And yes, I kinda liked FMP. It was fun. But no progression. Which I deem bloody pathetic. I don't like the Fushigi Yuugi/Ayashi no Ceres type of progressing when boy meets girl, and the next thing you know they are madly in love and in the middle of family planning. I just want some bloody show of progression that watching 3 seasons of it was worth it. But no. not even a pat on the head. Now that is frustrating, and you feel like you have been robbed of a lot of hours of your life. Oh, and old ones... - Watched Boogiepop Phantom. Yuck. Very boring. I wanted to murder the guy who suggested watching it - for a while. Good thing we didn't cross paths.
- Watched Evangelion. Liked it, but won't watch it again.
- Watched Yu Yu Hakusho. Still do it sometimes. Loved it. Absolutely.
- Watched Berserk. Still do it sometimes. It was lovely. I await each new chapter of the manga like a starving man craves for water in the desert.
- Watched Bastard! It was funny, but a tad bit too perverted for my tastes. Anyway... What the hell is wrong with women over there? No brains, no personality, not able to speak up for themselves! They are a bloody stupid bunch if you ask me. I hate that in anime.
- Watched Slayers. Sans the movies. Liked it.
- Watched Fushigi Yuugi and Ayashi no Ceres. First one was... ugh, please no more sugar. Second was interesting enough, too bad I had half a mind to delete it for the sugary lovey-dovey scenes... which made no sense. people don't fall in love like that. Yuck.
- Watched Escaflowne. It was... entertaining. Won't watch it again, tho'.
Was it good enough for you? I have a bunch of more anime I have seen, like Wolf's Rain, if I forgot to mention it... it was nice. And of course I have seen some definitely not mainstream ones, like Loveless, Yami no Matsuei and Gravitation... Same problem. Too sugary, lovey-dovey, nothing changes in the characters, or what changes is not good enough for me... (If you read as many Thomas Mann as I did, you do have reason to expect more.) And I even watched Blue Girl... which I will never, ever touch again. Just lemme get my hands on the guys who made me watch it. I think I handled shounen-ai a tad bit better. They are guys, after all. Not to mention that you build up a tolerance to it after having a few gay friends, or you would run crying to the first shrink... Khm... Anyway... comments?

Should I ask why? And... I'll see if my friend has it. If he does, I'll watch it. Or try. Still, I'm immersed in "Blood +". Anyway... I started reading "Tramps Like Us". Bought the first volume of the manga for 0.1 GBP. And I love it. Funny as hell. Too bad it's on the romantic side, but you can't expect better if it's not Berserk...

its nothing dodgy ^^. the animes suppose to have really good chacter development (i must have missed it) and the story is suppose to reflect some kind of philosphy thingy where a bunch of kids will make their own society when cut off from everyone else... personally the main chacter pissed me off .

good character progression anime eh? hum..... A few that i found storyline wise realistic.. PlanetES: very good science fiction and yet believable anime drama. VERY good character development (actually it's one of it's main feature) if u want to go deeper on the chara reccommend to watch both anime and the manga. It compliments each other. The banner of the star series: Realistic character progression aswell don't felt rushed at all... except it is a summarry of a whole novel for each series so when they put the last OVA into 2 eps it felt rushed.... MONSTER: NAOKI URASAWA is a GENIUS! No better thriller anime IMO. very good anime, picture perfect to the manga so i reccommend the anime instead (pretty fitting background music and seiyuu). (if u like this try to read his next manga ,20th century boys) For romance , well i'm not a big romance fan, but 'kimi ga nozomu eien' was pretty exceptional well made stories and chara, a tad bit tragic. And try one of Masakazu Katsura's manga, I'S or video girl Ai is few of my fav. Romance from boys point of few... Yeah u might realized the title i reccommend is almost identical to one i post on the begginning of this topic, but till now not many anime have i found exceptional. More titles later......

Does anyone (else) here like one (or two) shot animes? Like, Puni Puni Poemi, or Dragon Half (well, its manga has more episodes, but only two were made into anime)? Or better, Alien 9 (with it's 4 episodes), or Hoshi no koe? (Half an hour one-shot.) Her and Her Cat was okay too, but it kinda lacked something...

Death note was good... till certain part... well won't spoil anything but i assure u death note is a good series to watch athought we'll see how they'll make the anime..
I'm curious of the live-action movie....
School Rumble is a brilliant anime... even thought it's silly.... hell they don't even try to become serious (which is a good thing).....
but yeah it's funny and fresh... And the ammount of parody they put in there... hands down....

Actually, I had that bookmarked in the summer and I was so excited... You know I asked you about it when you were still in Japan. God... I want that! ^^ I'm bugging my ex non-stop if he could get it for me. So far, he couldn't. But I'm not giving up!
Edit: Here L looks way better than Yagami Light. Light doesn't look anything like his manga counterpart.
Edit II.: Say... is it really true what they say about Asian people and "sumaru dikku"? ;D *hides and cowers in a small corner*
