I'm in the comp. room in uni and im bored and I'm surprised that smeg, moo or even edem have not placed their own hint's and tips yet. so ill start.
What I'll be covering is my own personal Tips to keeping you over zealous teammates alive and well. First I'll tell you were I got my flash of inspiration:
During my first days of PvPing in the arenas (ahh level 10 PvPing is so simple) after losing a few games with some guy (forgot his name) I get asked do you want so helpful healing monk tips. I say "sure im a bit new at this stuff" The next thing he said was
"HEALING SPELLS ARE CRAP" The colours not right but the caps were
Then he goes on to explain than although healing monks are great protective spells are so much better, and seeing the skills and whatnot I would have to agree... for pure HP to energy efficiency protection spells are just much better BUT like all things guildwars theres a time and place for different spells.
So here is the way I play as a pure healer with noobish skills (like me).
1. Reversal of Fortune
I have to say my most favourite healing spell ever. Cheap, efficent and can save someones life at the last minute to get another more powerful spell out. Combined with max divine favour and protection this can be a bane for any attacker.
Heres why: (max Divine, Protect)
Healing from divine = 38
Healing from attacker = 67 (i think)
Damge negated = 67
So technically your healing your ally for 172 points of damage for a measly 5 enegery, with a 2 sec recharge you can spam away . Add divine boon and you can make this 233 for 7 engery (although with -1 regen)
2. Sheilding Hands
Another great one reduce the damage of all incoming damage by 15 points of HP. If the enemy is power glopping one of your teammates slap this on them. Lets assume theres 4 enemies each attacking every 2 seconds (very slow i know). Thats equivalent to 300 HP with only 5 energy.
Nice I know but careful with it the recharge is huge. Pick your targets carefully.
3. Mend Ailment
Ahh this is so nice to use against a ranger who does love his condition affecting shots. How many conditions can a single ranger put on you? Poison, Cripple, Bleeding and some times blindness.
with each condition it just makes this more powerful. It might be slow to remove the conditions on the person but at least they can survive long enough for your other team mates to counter attack. again very cheap and recharge quick so spam away.
The elite restore condition (personally i have not gotten yet) but its quite a waste of an elite slot. it nearly has the same effect as mend ailment. Its better but theres other elites more useful out there .
4. Pacifism (only in a 4 on 4 PvP, anywhere else I found it useless)
ahh if your on the bad end of foreign cursing you know this skill is working . If there was a well balanced team of monk, ranger, warrior, mage. this spell can make that a nice 3 on 4 fight. slap this on their ranger (make sure its not a spellcaster secondary or else this might not be so effective) and then watch them run around aimlessly.
taking a ranger or warrior out of the battle for 14 seconds gives you a very nice window for your team to kill the monk or mage. Although be careful tell your teammates you are using this skill with the nice ctrl+click trick or else your nice 30 seconds recharge skill will be for nought.
5. Divine Boon
ahh for the cost of 2 energy and 1 regen you can heal for 61 more points of HP. you think not much but if your using reversal at the right times the regen is not that bad. and combined with...
6. Divine Spirit
makes an excellent emergency heal spam combo. slap on these two skills and many of your protection spells cost only 3 energy instead of 7.
7. Some type of ress
Currently I use ressurect because i have no others but put in one that you like.
8. Some other spell you like
because I've been mostly in Kryta (damn those mesmer gargolyes) i use this slot for Dwaynas Kiss.
---------------------
I have to say though this aint the most .... active builds you'll be staying in the back always pressing your reversal of fortune button or in emergencies active the heal spam combo and continue. You may keep your teammates alive (most of the time) but i got bored with this build, Hell its a brilliant healer though and in PvP I still use it. PvE I use something else now , thank god for Alesia.
I may make a full explaination of all the monk skills some time in the future when im not so much of a nubblet but for now heres my contribution to you wannabe monks.
